“Sit, please,” I say. "This will only take a moment."
His big shoes stumble across the floor, he falls on the couch, his hands cover his head and he leans into his sobs.
“We’re just going to talk. I’m just going to ask you a few questions.”
His body nods and he wipes his face with his sleeve, lies on the couch and closes his eyes.
"Adrian, what is your biggest vulnerability?"
“Rum. I ‘m a sot.”
"Do others know this or is it a secret?"
“It’s no secret. I drink whenever I can.”
"What do people believe about you that is false?"
(Sobbing) “I am not a bad person. I tried my best to save the kid. They think I’m part of his schemes, but I swear, I’m not. I told him to stop. But kids these days, you can’t make them listen to you, so I just follow along hoping to keep him out of more trouble.”
"What would your best friend say is your fatal flaw?"
“Stian? He thinks I'm stupid.”
"Why is that?"
“He takes me for the fool. He uses me and I let him.”
"What would the same friend say is your one redeeming quality?"
“He wouldn’t. He’s hardened by the world. But if he did, he’d have to say I’m loyal. “
"Why?"
“ I’ve stuck with him for all these years.”
"What do you want most?"
“I just want to go back to the real world, get out of this hellhole, this Realm.”
"What will you do to get it?"
“Die. If Stian doesn’t get me out I have no other options. They’ll hang me here.”

I definitely got a feel for this character. Nice interview!
ReplyDeleteThis post to me is what makes blog fests worthwhile. I'm glad I stumbled across your blog, and Adrian seems very interesting indeed.
ReplyDeleteNow I want to read all your old entries to see why he's trapped in this other realm.
what an interesting character, and his answers definitely left me wanting more. :)
ReplyDeleteFascinating insight into what seems like a very interesting character!
ReplyDeleteI'm really curious as to the vast setting of the Realm, as Adrian seems to be describing it as a hell. Great description in a short amount of words. Thanks.

ReplyDeleteI love this. He's got a very distinctive voice, and this is written as if it really was in a novel. We're giving hints, but not details, and it makes me really curious for more. Also, I love the sketch.

ReplyDeleteLoved his voice.
Sometimes, an emoticon is worth a thousand words:

I feel so sympathetic toward him!
Poor guy. I feel so sad for him. Even his best friend doesn't seem to like him very much. I hope he gets out of that realm and has something good in his future.
ReplyDeleteWhat a powerful interview - and I love the sketch, it's so full of character!
ReplyDeleteThis really is an interesting character, and I like how we find out so much about the other character through him...
ReplyDeleteInteresting character. I want to know more about him.
ReplyDeleteCan someone help this poor guy out already. I want to know what happens to him. I need more!
ReplyDeleteI liked doing this character blog hop. I get to meet interesting characters like Adrian!
Ooooo! I think this is my favorite character so far in the blogfest! Nicely done! He is quite honest, open. His character is very well fleshed out. Poor guy though! I hope things turn out better for him.
ReplyDeleteThank you to everyone for leaving comments! It's so much fun to get feedback. I'm pretty sure I've visited everyone's blog here, and more. If I missed anyone let me know. I am so excited about tomorrow's blog challenge as the poll I took, 80 percent of my visitors wanted me to have Ian and his dad dialogue with each other...and that is so right on, because they have some unfinished business to take care of. I'll probably be posting tonight as I live on the west coast and I know at least half of you are up way before me. Good luck on tomorrow's blogging!
ReplyDeleteI like it--he obviously has some problems but he hasn't lost his humanity. I'm a new follower now.
ReplyDeleteI wanted you to know you are in my top 10 for this challenge :)
ReplyDeleteWOW! Thanks, Angela, I'm honored!
ReplyDeleteThis character was so adorably horrible. I am impressed.
ReplyDeleteIntense. What a conflicted character.
