Contest for teens and young at heart!

??????????????????????????

The year is 2027

America is under martial law.

A giant corporation has taken hold of all politics and way of life (can't tell you much more right now) in conjunction with the OWO.

Our main characters are teenagers. Two 17 year olds and one 10 year old.

Question for you, especially teens, what do they wear? They've not yet been conditioned to uniforms, so what do you see the dress of a typical teenager in the year 2027?

I'm offering some books to the best answers. If you can describe, draw, paint, whatever your idea of the teen fashion for that age...post it in the comments or email!!

Please Support Songs for the Saga

This summer we'd like to make the ALBUM

 Songs of the Saga

As many of my friends know, I've been working with this lovely young lady, Lexa Rose, both a singer and song writer. She's the beautiful voice in The Dragon Shield Trailer who took my lyrics from the book of the same title and turned them into a hauntingly beautiful song.

During the process, we brain stormed about creating an album doing the same thing with the rest of the music. I've recently talked to her and she says the songs are going around in her head and soon she'll be ready to record.

I know for a fact that recording can cost some money so we're doing a small fundraiser (only asking for $300) which is more of a pre-sale.

Rocket Hub is our choice for fundraising

The album will not only be beautiful celtic music for folks to enjoy (the retail cost will most likely be around $10) but will be the launch of this young lady's career. If we can raise enough money, we'd like to have Alex Chandler create a video DVD with the music, some scenes from the book and Lexa singing. So if you think this dream is worth 15 dollars or so, please consider donating. We'd love the support!

Digitus 233

Talk about the FUTURE....Digitus 233

Today I have the pleasure of featuring a very special lady on my blog. Kim Mutch Emerson! Not only a wonderful author and publisher, CEO of Master Koda Publishing, but a sincere and giving friend!

She facilitates two facebook pages, a website for her company and who knows what else! Her nature is to help people and she's been helping to promote my work, taking me under her wing even though my books are under a different logo. Today I want to thank her and honor Kim!

And I have her book on my TBR pile as well especially since I'm diving into dystopia with my next series.

Please help me welcome this lovely lady!

Kim, what is the title of your book?
Oooh lala! I love this question because the title of my book has a double meaning. Title: Digitus 233

Where did the idea for the book come from? The dark corners of my mind. I love allowing my imagination to take what is and expand it to what may be…

What genre does your book fall under? Dystopia Science Fiction set in the near future. It can also fall under action/adventure/fringe science/mature young adult/thriller. There, I think that about covers it.

Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency? My book will be published with Master Koda Select Publishing (MKSP) due out Dec 21, 2012 – just in time for the end of the world.

How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript? The very rough edges of the rough draft simmered for several years on the back burner of my mind. The actual writing took place over several months.

Give a one sentence synopsis of your novel: When Zander was ushered onto the luxurious Lear Jet the end of the world was the last thing on his mind.

What other works would you compare your story to? It’s kind of a combo meal between The Hunger Games, Clive Cussler novels, the classic Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell and the movie The Manchurian Candidate set to the tune of Hotel California.

Who or What inspired you to write this book? The events in Nazi Germany during World War II, the reality that freedom (and life) can so easily slip through our fingers, the intrigue of fringe science and how it can be used for good or evil (depending on who is in control).

What else might pique the reader’s interest?
After much argument from the main characters of the book it was finally decided to give a fleeting glance inside the upcoming novel Digitus 233 from author K.D. Emerson.
****
Deep within the dark abyss of his mind, Zander tried to shout, but no sound escaped. It felt as though a heavy mallet beat against his skull. Pushing the pain to the back of his mind, he forced himself to focus and slithered through the murk toward a pinpoint of light. Gulping for air, he burst through the blackness and forced his eyes open.
A scream escaped before he could stop himself. Inches away, a face; a set of open blue eyes stared at him. Was it a dead body? He struggled with his arms and legs, unexpectedly unable to force them to move. He was tied up in some kind of silky material! The eyes in front of him blinked. This time he caught the scream half way up and swallowed it. He had to get control of himself.

When Zeph, the adventurous son of a millionaire hid in the cargo hold of the Learjet carrying his brother Zander to camp he had no idea there was anything dark or ominous going on.”

The threat is all too real and Zeph has his hands full if he hopes to find Zander before it's too late. With a power hungry corporation in charge with some freaky mind control, it's not going to be easy for Zeph to uncover their plan or free his brother. Digitus 233 http://amzn.to/12JsPkx

If you want to read a book that makes your pulse run faster, cause your hair to raise on your arms, hold your breath, make your heart pump faster, get sea sick without being at sea, feel frozen though you are warm, and keep you on the edge all the time this is definitely the book for you. Natalie Star The Keeper

Today we have Natalie Star, author of The Keeper
(Young Adult/Paranormal Romance/heat level 2)
Now until June 15
.99 on Amazon

Let's welcome Natalie as she shares a little about herself, an excerpt and a snippet about her antagonist!

When I'm not reading or writing, I can be found with my husband supporting my two children on the soccer fields. Or maybe running around with my camera taking photos while camping and/or hiking. Or lastly, and most probable - I'm watching movies on Netflix while simultaneously perusing Facebook. Our family resides in the state of Virginia along with our old-unintelligent-diabetic cat named Lucky.

The Keeper...

The morning of her sixteenth birthday, Billie feels blessed despite the reoccurring nightmare that wakes her. Loving parents, a caring boyfriend, and great friends surround her until an heirloom necklace throws her into a world she never imagined.
“Gifted” with supernatural powers and an unexpected destiny as the Keeper, Billie and a mysterious boy from her past must work together to find answers. But, as they begin to discover feelings for one another, he disappears leaving her to fight evil alone. Her life spirals out of control. She breaks up with her boyfriend, Tony, and alienates her best friends Arianna and Jocelyn to protect them from the truth.
As dark forces pursue her, Billie longs to run away from it all, yet a need to do what’s right compels her to face the future as the keeper of more than her own fortune.

“I have something special for you. Sit, I’ll go get it.” And before I knew it, she rushed down the hall.

“Hurry, Mom, I have to get to school!” I yelled after her. She was back in a flash. “Here, honey.” She handed me a long narrow velvet jewelry box, maroon in color, the coloring faded from age and use. I flipped back the lid and saw a gold chain with a charm hanging from it. Definitely nothing I would have handpicked, nice enough I guess, but it looked older than dirt itself. There was a yellowish gemstone, citrine I think, no larger than a nickel and it was set on top of a golden sunburst. She explained, “It’s been in our family for years. It’s been handed down from generation to generation on the sixteenth birthday.”

“Um, thank you. How old is it, and where did it come from?” I questioned because it even smelled old.

“No one in recent memory knows the answer to either question. We do know it is an honor to receive it, and you have to wear it for your whole birthday, no matter what,” Mom explained.

“Or what, I will have seven years bad luck?” I didn’t know what else to say.

“No, worse, a whole life of bad luck.” Mom said it so seriously.

“Well, if that isn’t convincing enough, put it on me!” I was not superstitious but why take chances?

I lifted my flat ironed hair out of the way, and Mom placed the chain around my neck. The second I heard it click into place, I felt funny, and I swear the jewelry’s temperature rose. I stood up in a state of a panic as it warmed and the heat spread from my neck throughout my body. Everything went white, and then pulled out.

“Billie!” Mom screamed.

Tell us, Natalie...If the antagonist Adrik, from your paranormal romance, The Keeper were to go shopping what would he have on his shopping list…

1. Flowers to woo Billie even though she resists his otherworldly charm, but that would probably be it.

Adrik really wouldn’t go shopping, so the rest of the list is what he wouldn’t buy and why…

2. Food – He doesn’t need to eat to sustain his paranormal self.

3. Material things – Where he comes from earthly items aren’t needed.

4. Hmmm thinking about it, I think Adrik would enjoy music so he might purchase an iPod fully loaded. I mean, who doesn’t like music?

There is a scene in The Keeper where Billie is in the grocery store and Adrik appears out of nowhere. Shopping is foreign to him, as he’s never had to do it before, but he tags along and muses over Billie being a “domestic goddess”.
